Throwing an open challenge to police, unidentified robbers decamped with Rs 7.76 lakh, snatching it from the staff of a Bharat petroleum pump on Sarath-Palajori main road near power house on Monday.
The loot took place at around 11am this morning while two employees of Bharat Petroleum pump were on their way to State Bank of India (SBI), Palajori branch to deposit a sum of Rs 7.76 lakh.
After travelling around 1/2 kilometer from the petrol pump carrying the cash in a bag, the duo were chased by at least 3 looters on two bikes on Sarath-Palajori main road for a few minutes.
After intercepting the duo by keeping their bikes before them, the looters threw chilli powder into their eyes and drove away towards Chitra snatching the cash bag.
Police rushed to the spot after getting information on the loot and detained the staff duo for questioning.
