Under Gamak series Malwi Gayan and tribal dance Gedi were performed at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum here on Wednesday.
'Malwi Gayan' was performed by Nandram Baria from Dhar and Gond tribal 'Gedi' was performed by Vijay Bandewar and Sathi- Chhindwara.
The performance started with 'Malwi Gayan' by Nandram Baria and group. The performance began with Ganesh Vandana- 'Rama Jhama Ghar Aao Gajanand'.
The performance was followed by Kuan Pani Kaise Jaun Re Nazar Lagaye Jaye', 'Bani Chalo Hamara Desh', 'Ghar Hoti Mhara', ' Leja Re Thaari Gathdali ',' Tu Modo Kise Aayo Re 'and' Hum To Java Hamara Desh '.
He was accompanied on violin by Ashok Khadia, on Dholak bybBhuralal Baria, on Khanjari by Bheru Singh Singhar, Amrit, Ashish, Sitaramji and Neha More on Majira. The second performance was a Gond tribal dance - 'Gedi' by Vijay Bandewar and group.
In ancient times, when the means of transport were not available and the people of the tribal region used the gaadi made of bamboo poles to go from one place to another through mud paths.
In tribal areas, Gedi is worshiped predominantly at Pola festival and this dance is performed in fairs held at various Teej festivals, Gedi dance is mainly done by young men and women of Gond tribe with bamboo sticks.
This dance is performed with a handkerchief standing above and wearing a gondi tune in tribal attire and a flute and cymbal instruments on a sata rhythm.
