With the Covid-19 situation still deemed serious, authorities on Saturday extended till May 6 the lockdown in Raipur-- one of the worst affected districts in Chhattisgarh. Raipur Collector Dr S. Bharathi Dasan said the lockdown has been extended by 10 days till May 6 morning.
On assessing the results of the ongoing lockdown and as per the advice received from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health, "it is necessary to extend the period of lockdown in the entire Raipur district to break the coronavirus chain", the Collector said. The district administration has extended the lockdown with some conditional permission compared to the earlier strict lockdown announced to battle Covid-19.
Government fair price shops will be on scheduled dates with token facilities for the beneficiaries.All mandis, wholesale/retail and grocery shops will remain closed but loading and unloading of essential goods at godowns will be allowed between 11 pm to 4 am. Sale of fruits, vegetables, poultry and groceries (rice, lentils, flour, edible oils and salt) in colonies subject to supply from farmers/producers through street vendors will be allowed between 6 am and 2 pm.
On Friday, 3,215 fresh Covid cases were detected and 57 people died due to the infection in Raipur district.
