The Jashpur District Collector on Sunday told the Tehsildar of Manora to stop the mutation of the 24.88 acres of tribal land bought by an Ashish Bhagat in village Gutkiya in Manora block in the Chhattisgarh district.
Collector Mahadev Kawre visited Manora block and met the Pahadi Korva tribal families. Additional Collector I.L. Thakur and other senior revenue officials were present, an official communication said.
In his interaction, the Collector sought details of the land sale and assured them that the district administration will help them. He promised a thorough investigation.
The communication said a sale dead regarding 24.88 acres of land (Khasra No 9) was registered on January 22. Mahindra and Sahindra, who are tribals, on February 9 lodged a complaint with the Collector to stop the mutation of the land records.
The Collector set up a committee under the Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) Jashpur. The panel submitted a primary report on February 20. Based on that, the order was issued to stop the mutation process.
