The inside pictures of the Jagannath Temple in Puri have again gone viral on social media exposing poor frisking at the shrine’s entrance points.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) filed an FIR at the Singhadwar police station seeking action against the social media user for violation of the temple rules. The complaint was lodged against Shalini Passi, who belongs to Haryana.
“This act is an offence under Section 30-A(4)(c) of Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1955. Besides that, by publishing the photographs in social media, the culprit has endangered the security of the temple and such activity has hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees,” the FIR stated.
The fresh incident had put the temple security personnel in the dock for alleged poor frisking at the entrance points of the shrine.
The lapses in security came to the fore after two photographs clicked from the Dakshina Dwar (south gate) of the templer were circulated on Instagram with the photo and video sharing the social networking site.
The photographs were posted by the Instagram user Shalini Passi on her profile on February 3. With the circulation of the inner photos of the temple on the social media, they went viral.
Though mobile phones and cameras are banned in the Jagannath Temple, a series of similar violations of restriction has been made allegedly by devotees as well as servitors in past.
