The much-awaited direct flights from the VSS Airport here to Mumbai and Bengaluru were inaugurated on Tuesday. Health Minister Naba Kisore Das, Bargarh MP Sures Pujari, Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Mohanty, Sundargarh MP Jual Oram, Kalahandi MP Basant Panda, Sambalpur MP Nitish Gangdeb and Airport Director Kisore Senapati were present.Minister Das informed that the State Government has agreed to provide Rs 100 crore for the airport for its development and 155.30 acres of land have been earmarked for the aerodrome.
With this, the VSS Airport is being connected to all parts of the country; and soon it would be transformed into an international airport, said the Minister. SpiceJet Boeing flights will operate four days a week from Jharsuguda to Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Every Tuesday, the flight would start from Mumbai at 10.30 am to reach Jharsuguda at 12.30 pm and would leave Jharsuguda at 1 pm to reach Bengaluru at 15.10 pm.
