The 88th death anniversary of the first graduate and lawyer of Odisha, eminent social reformer and founder of the Utkal Sammilani, Utkala Gourav Madhusudan Das was observed by different socio-cultural organisations here on Thursday in memory of the legend.
Members of the Pujya Puja Samiti, a socio-cultural organisation, organised a meeting at Bijipur to mark the event. Samiti president Bansidhar Bhuyan presided. The members in their address urged upon the Government to give more priority to improve and enrich the social conditions of the Odia people and protect the geographical boundaries of the State in the same spirit Madhu Babu did.
The members expressed their serious concern that a larger chunk of border areas of Odisha is still under control of the neighbouring States to which the Odisha Government remains a mute spectator.
Instead of bringing more industries to the State, the State Government opens more liquor shops and constituted “Liquor Corporation” and Madhubabu’s Odisha no longer remains safe, the members alleged.
