A young woman was gang-raped while she was going to take a holy dip on the occasion of Makar Sankranti in Baripada town on Thursday morning.
According to reports, the19-year-old victim was walking towards a river for the dip when two youths of the locality followed and forcibly took her and later raped her at a secluded place near the riverbed. As she screamed for help, the accused duo fled from the spot.
The girl narrated the ordeal to her family members after returning home, following which a complaint was lodged by them at the Baripada Town police station. On the basis of the FIR, police arrested the two accused.
