Hundreds of people belonging to Nuapada gram panchayat under Chikiti block in Ganjam district met the Brahmapur Sub-Collector on Monday and submitted a memorandum to him protesting against non-inclusion of their names under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the old age pension scheme under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP).The villagers under the leadership of social activist Hrushikesh Nayak had earlier also submitted a similar memorandum to the Chikiti BDO, but there was no response. They have alleged that local the Sarpanch has not recommended their names though they are eligible under the schemes. Because of their ignorance and innocence, some middlemen are cheating them, they resented.
