On the occasion of International Women’s Day on Monday, free breast screening and mammography will take place at Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur, a press release said on Sunday.
The surgery department will perform breast screening and the radiology department breast mammography or mamo sonography free of cost, it said.
Women between 35 and 65 years can avail these services. The all-women doctors’ team will do the testing from 8 am till 1 pm.
Head of Department (HoD) surgery Prof Dr Manju Singh said that for the past four years, the breast clinic has been operational at the surgery department. Breast cancer can be stopped only through regular screening, she said.
HoD Radiology Prof Dr S.B.S. Netam said that all women above 40 should undergo a baseline screening so that problems can be detected well in time. If a family has a history of breast cancer, its members should undergo breast cancer screening by age 35.
