Under the Gamak series Isha Singh, Mumbai performed ‘Punjabi Folk Song’ and Ashish Shrivastava from Sagar performed Bundelkhandi Martial Arts 'Akhara' dance. The spellbinding performances were held on Tuesday at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum.
The presentation started with Isha Singh from Punjabi folk songs, including 'Khediyan de Naal', 'Charkhe di kukh', 'Akhiyan cha tu basda', 'Bajre da Sitta', 'Boohe barian', 'Long Gbachaya' and 'Kala Dorea ' were presented Punjabi folk songs.
In the presentation, she was accompanied on the stage by Jitendra Sharma on Harmonium, Dholak and Tabla by Ravindra Rao, on the keyboard by Dilip Vaswani and on Octopad by Hirendra Nagia.
It is to be noted that Isha Singh inherited music, she got her initial education in music from her father Gurnam Singh and received classical music from Mallika Benerjee, a renowned classical singer from Delhi Gharana, she received her B.A. She has a Master's degree in Classical Music from Honors and Punjab University, Patiala, has been a winner of the national level classical music competition and received a scholarship from Sahitya Kala Parishad, Delhi. Singh has performed on several prestigious forums in the country and is currently working to organize live music concerts in various states of the country.
The second presentation of the Bundelkhandi martial arts 'Akhara', the arena is a folk art played since time immemorial, in which the sticks are rotated in many ways, and the bars from the sticks are protected and barred. In this, the art of running and avoiding the scriptures like shield, sword, spear, Farsa, Ballam are portrayed. In the dance, legends are performed and dances are performed by dancing.
Ashish Shrivastava has been playing continuous participation in the folk arts for almost twenty-five years, since the age of twelve, through the Veeradal Jaihind Akhara, he has given commendable performances on many prestigious forums in the country and has been playing active membership in theatre as well.
