FJCCI elects 21 executive members

Wednesday, 29 September 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

State’s biggest trade body –Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) election results were declared on Tuesday evening. Kishore Mantri, a transport businessman and owner of several buses running under Mantri Transport has secured maximum votes. Mantri has received 1479 votes followed by Rahul Maroo who has secured 1402 votes. In the third position is Dheeraj Taneja who has received 1400 votes.

Around 3480 traders who are members of FJCCI voted for three days (September 26, 27 and 28) electing 21 candidates out of total 35 candidates. The other members who were elected includes, Ram Bangar, Rahul Saboo, Varun Jalan, Soni Mehta, Aditya Malhotra, Rohit Agarwal, Manish Kumar Saraf, Vikash Vijaywargiya, Deen Dayal Baranwal, Anil Agarwal, Navjot Alang, Mukesh Kumar Agarwal, Praveen Lohia, Amit Sharma, Sumit Jain, Anish Budhia, Paresh Gattani and Dr Abhishek Kumar Ramadhin.

The 21 elected members, who form the executive panel, will thereafter choose seven office bearers from themselves who would run the show for next one year.

The office bearers consist of the president, two vice presidents, one general secretary, two joint secretaries and a treasurer.

The present president of the Chamber is Praveen Jain Chhabra. Though traders from Ranchi are active in FJCCI, the Chamber is widely spread across the State with traders’ bodies having six regional presidents too. The six regional presidents are one each from — one each from North and South Chotanagpur, Kolhan, Palamau, Coal belt and Santhal Pargana regions.

The annual election of the trade body is an important event for the state’s trading community and it experiences a lot of excitement when two 21-member teams led by two prominent businessmen contest for as many seats. But the election could not be held last year because of the pandemic and a group of office bearers, nominated by the trading community, is at the helm of affairs at present.

This year the election was different from previous year, due to the pandemic. Based on state government guidelines we have made some changes in the election. Unlike previous years when voting was done on a single day. This time the voting was held for three days. Also the voting was held at the Chamber's Bhawan. Members exercised their franchise at three halls at Chamber Bhawan.

The other changes which were introduced in the Chamber's election this time was that candidates were not be allowed to campaign within 100 metre radius from the voting centre on the day of voting. No candidates were allowed to put up banners and posters near the voting centre.
