Day after a 31-year-old on-duty Sub-Inspector allegedly shot himself dead with his service pistol on the terrace of Pandav Nagar police station in Delhi, the family has demanded action against the officers who harassed him.
The deceased, Rahul Singh, belonged to Agra district in Uttar Pradesh and lived with his family here. He was posted at Pandav Nagar police station.
Biri Singh Chaudhary, father-in-law of Singh, said that the deceased got married to his daughter on December 9, 2020 in Agra.
“Singh always used to complain about the workload and a lot of pressure from his seniors. He was not even getting leave. My daughter told me that he was very upset for the past two to three days,” Chaudhary said.
“His family members spoke to the DCP and other senior police officers on Saturday. They have also submitted a written complaint in connection with the incident and demand enquiry,” Chaudhary said.
On Friday, Singh came to the police station to perform his duties. He went to the terrace of Pandav Nagar police station and killed himself. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.
“Police have received a written complaint from the family and we will be inquiring into it thoroughly and from all angles,” said Priyanka Kashyap, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), East district.
