Chhattisgarh's BJP leaders should tender an unconditional apology to the people of state for raising baseless allegations and causing hindrance in paddy procurement at minimum support price across the state, Congress leader Girish Dewangan said on Monday.
Dewangan, the Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President, was addressing a press conference with PCC Communication Department Chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi here.
Saying the Baghel government works for the overall development of the state, he said it is only when retail business grows in villages that the urban-based industries and businesses will prosper.
Trivedi said after recording 92 lakh tonnes of paddy procurement, the BJP should stand shoulder to shoulder with the state government to seek fulfilment of lifting the proposed 60 lakh tonnes of rice to the central pool and also recall the three black agricultural laws.
For the first time, in the kharif season 2020-21, 36,890 forest land title holders had registered for sale of paddy, out of which 30,023 farmers sold around 10.70 lakh quintals.
Dewangan said that the Modi government has not implemented the M.S. Swaminathan committee report, otherwise on the basis of C-2 cost, 50 percent profit on produce would have been assured to farmers.
No groundwork has been done to double the income of farmers by 2022. The anti-farmer laws have been brought to benefit the major industrialists, he said. That is why the farmers are agitating and will continue to do so.
