Chhattisgarhi Khel Madai ends, Bhilai on top

A two-day ‘Chhattisgarhi Khel Madai’ (Traditional Sports Festival) ended on Sunday in Patan in Durg district, with the Bhilai Municipal Corporation finishing as the overall champion and Rajnandgaon the runners-up.

The event was organized by the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association (COA) and the Sports and Youth Welfare Department.

On Sunday, competitions for Sankhali, Tuve Langarchi, Gedi, Naugodiya Bhaura, Gilli Danda, Sur Pittul, Pudhav Puk, Fugdi and Kho-Kho were held.

In individual sports, Dikeshwari from Patan village bagged the first position while Dhanishtha (Raipur) and Reena Nishad (Bemetara) came second and third in Fugdi.

Parmeshwar Barre (Rajnandgaon), Akash Bagh (Patan) and Bharat Sahu (Gariaband) secured the first, second and third positions in Pudhav Puk.

Karan Sahu (Rajnandgaon), Gopal Nishad (Patan) and Lalit Razak (Bilaspur) were the top three in Naugodiya Bhaura.

Raipur team was the winner in Gilli Danda and Gariband the runners-up. Raipur won Sur Pittool (Durg was second), Balodabazar team won Gedi Gend and was followed by Dhamtari, Patan team won Tuve Langarchi while Raipur took the second spot, Durg team won Sankhali and Dhamtari followed. COA Secretary General Gurucharan Singh Hora gave away the prizes.
