Chhattisgarh’s Naina conquers Everest

Chhattisgarh's Naina Singh Dhakad has scaled the Mount Everest, becoming the first female mountaineer from the state to conquer the world's highest peak.

Dhakad, who hails from Bastar, hoisted the tricolour on Mount Everest, located in Nepal and at a height of 8,848.86 metres above sea level, on Tuesday, communication received here on Thursday said.

She also scaled Mount Lhotse, the world's fourth highest mountain (8,516 metres).

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo have lauded Dhaka's achievement.

Baghel tweeted that she achieved the success due to strong determination and great courage. He wished her a bright future.

Singh Deo said Dhakad had brought laurels to the state by conquering Mount Everest.
