Chandigarh on Wednesday recorded 399 Covid-19 cases, its highest single-day count in the past six months. The City had reported 341 Covid-19 cases on April 5 the second-highest daily tally in the ‘Second Wave’ of Covid-19.
The number of active cases has now risen to 3121 and two more deaths from coronavirus were reported, taking the number of people who died from the infection in the Union Territory to 388.
As many as 3731 beneficiaries were given the Covid-19 vaccine at 55 sites in the city on Wednesday taking the figure of vaccinations to 101,692 in the city so far.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh District Magistrate Mandip Singh Brar ordered that there shall be prohibition on movement of individuals for all non-essential activities between 10:30 pm to 5 am. Chandigarh administration has imposed night curfew from 10 PM to 5 AM every day until further notice. Only essential services will be allowed to function during the curfew.
