6000 unauthorized colonies to be legalized

Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh has informed that rules have been finalized for regularization of unauthorized colonies in urban areas. It will be published soon. This will clear the way for regularization of about 6 thousand colonies of the state. After regularization, people living in these colonies will be able to get permission for building construction as well as bank loan facility.

Singh has informed that 5320 cases of compounding have been received in urban bodies from August 31 to December 27. Out of these 4264 cases have been approved. Due to this, an amount of Rs 54 crore 45 lakh has been received by the urban bodies as compounding fee. Indore Municipal Corporation has accepted maximum number of 1975 cases. Due to this the corporation has received a fee of Rs 41 crore 89 lakh. Congratulating the Indore Municipal Corporation for this achievement, Minister Singh has said that other bodies should also emulate it.

The Minister has appealed to the citizens to apply for the mitigation of construction built without permission or in violation of the permission granted, by February 28, 2022, and take advantage of the 20 percent exemption given by the government. This exemption will be available on the compounding fee calculated as per the rules.

He said that with the special efforts made in the interest of citizens, necessary amendments were made in the Municipal Act regarding regularization of colonies by the State Government on August 10, 2021. In this, statutory provisions for regularization of colonies were included. Along with this, the limit of compounding has been increased from 10 to 30 percent for building without permission or contrary to permission.
