50 Covid beds ready at Military hospital in Ranchi

Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a meeting with senior military officers in his residential office on Saturday. In the course of deliberations, military officials informed the Chief Minister that for the better treatment of Corona infected patients, 50 Covid beds have been prepared in the Military Hospital, Namkum.

The Army officials said that the treatment of Corona-infected patients will start in the Military Hospital Namkum from next Tuesday. It was also told in the meeting that the State government has agreed to provide oxygen to them. The CM urged the military officers that the role of the army would be important in this battle against Covid-19. Therefore, the army should work in coordination with the State government to provide better treatment to the people here at the time of this infection.

The Chief Minister said that the Indian Army has intrinsic strengths. The Army has come forward to protect the lives of the Corona-infected patients according to its capacity and should provide relief by using its health resources established in the state. In the meeting, further coordination was discussed between the State government and the military officials by creating mutual coordination.

Earlier, on April 21, the State government has sought help from Indian Army establishments in the State for treatment and care of civilian Covid patients. The CM had chaired a meeting with Army officials on the fast growing case of corona infection in the State and had asked the Army to cooperate with the State government in the kind of situation that is arising due to Covid-19.

The CM had told the Army officials that if the Army had permission from Centre to treat general Covid patients in the hospitals in Ranchi’s Namkum and Ramgarh, then the State government would provide the oxygen-rich beds there, all other medical facilities including ventilators. He had said that experienced doctors and para medical personnel and other manpower were available in army hospitals. With their cooperation, corona patients would surely get better treatment.

In Saturday’s meeting Chief Secretary of the State Sukhdev Singh, Development Commissioner Arun Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajiv Arun Ekka, Urban Development Secretary Kumar Choubey, Campaign Director NRHM Ravi Shankar Shukla and Major General Rajesh Kumar from Army, Brigadier Rajat Shukla, Colonel K Vivek and Colonel Gagan Pandey were present alongwith other senior officers.
