300 Covid, 23 Omicron  cases reported in Haryana

Haryana on Thursday reported 300 new Covid-19 infections, pushing the total tally to 7,73,361 in the State. In a worrying surge the State also added 23 more Omicron infected patients to the tally.  Till date, a total of 300 patients infected with the Omicron variant have been reported in the state, according to the medical bulletin.

A medical bulletin stated that Gurugram and Faridabad continued to witness the surge in cases with Gurgaon getting 181 and Faridabad 44, Panchkula 20, Sonepat 12 fresh cases in the last 24 hours respectively on Thursday.  The bulletin said the fresh Covid-19 cases tally, meanwhile, crossed the 300-mark in the last 24 hours after a gap of a few months. The total active cases in the state have risen nearly three-fold during the past week. The active cases in the State rose to 1047 on December 30. The recovery rate was 98.56 per cent, the bulletin said.

17 FRESH CASES IN CHANDIGARH

UT of Chandigarh on Thursday reported 17 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of cases to 65,846. UT adviser Dharampal reviewed the current Covid-19 status with the Health Secretary Yashpal Garg and other health officers. Garg said that there is a sudden increase in the daily number of Covid vaccination. He also said that presently about 125 active positive cases and most of them are in home isolation being asymptomatic. Weekly positivity rate in the UT Chandigarh is about 1.2 per cent. All asymptomatic COVID positive patients to be allowed in home quarantine as a first option, he added.
