With the aim to make the youth self-reliant and provide them jobs, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives to open 16 new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) on public-private partnership (PPP) model across the state.
According to officials, the admission process in the 16 new ITIs will begin from August 2021.
"With the aim to provide technical manpower to the fast emerging industrial sector, the new ITIs will help in increasing the number of seats in electronic technician, computer operator  and programming assistant, machinist engineer, electronic mechanic and more courses," the official said.
At present, over 1.72 lakh students are undergoing skill training in 305 ITIs in Uttar Pradesh.
"The government has laid special emphasis on setting up ITIs in remote regions of the state to cater to the needs of the underprivileged sections of society," he said.
According to the officials, once the student completes training from the ITI, he/she will be provided a certificate that will be recognised at the national level.
Apart from setting up IT labs, smart classes, and solar energy plants in state ITIs, the work of providing training to students by connecting them with industrial units is also being done.
