Two armed forces personnel belonging to Uttarakhand died in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan on Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday. According to the information available, an operation of Indian army was going in Uri sector of J&K on Saturday during which the Pakistani troops opened heavy fire. In the battle, two personnel of 21st battalion of Kumaon regiment attained martyrdom while two others sustained injuries. Both are from Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. The martyrs are Havildar Gokarna Singh of Munsiyari and Shankar Singh of Gangolihat.
A pall of gloom descended on the Napad and Nali villages of the brave-hearts in Pithoragarh district when the information about their martyrdom arrived. The army is making arrangements to send the bodies of soldiers to Pithoragarh by aerial route. In his message, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed deep shock on death of two soldiers of the state. Asking the family members to show extreme patience in this hour of grief, the CM assured all possible help to them.
