Three men arrested for firing at shopkeeper in Tigri

The Delhi Police has arrested three men for allegedly firing at a shopkeeper in Delhi’s Tigri area after the man denied giving them free clothes for their accomplices who are lodged in jail.

The accused have been identified as Sunil (19), Dheeraj (19) and Bupender (20), all residents of Sangam Vihar area in National Capital. Police said the accused are also found involved in other cases registered across the city.

According to Atul Kumar Thakur, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South district, on July 24, a police control room (PCR) call regarding an incident of firing by 3-4 persons at a shop in Sangam Vihar area was received.

“On the basis of the statement given by the shopkeeper, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered under section 307/34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25/27 Arms Act at Tigri police station and investigation was taken up,” said the DCP.

“On July 27, after receiving specific inputs, the trio was nabbed from Sangam Vihar area and on the cursory search, one country made pistol along with two live cartridges was recovered. On checking, it was revealed that the recovered weapon was used in commission of crime,” said the DCP.

“During interrogation, the accused revealed that some of their accomplices were in jail and they had asked the shopkeeper (complainant) to provide the garments for the use of their accomplices in jail but the complainant denied following which they decided to fire upon the complainant,” said the DCP.
