While countrywide lockdown in the wake of deadly coronavirus has put a “stop” to all outdoor activities to mitigate chances of community transmission, the Delhi Government is going digital to educate wards of its schools.
The Delhi Government on Monday announced that students from nursery to class 8 will be promoted to the next class in the national Capital.
Secondly, online classes are being started for class XII and X students and third, interactive session with SMS, Interactive Voice Response ( IVR) and TV mediums up to eighth standards. The decision to this effect was announced by th e Directorate of Education ( DoE ) after detailed consultation with stake holders in education sector announced these steps on Monday.
According to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, it is required to engage students as schools are shut.
Taking care of education of students in continuation of lockdown span with recent riot incidents in Delhi vicinity, Sisodia said that the Government has prepared its action plans to engage students in learning activities via modern day —virtual classes with the help World Wide Web.
Addressing Delhi through live video conference, Sisodia said his Government is promoting the students up to class VII under Government policies —no detention and Right To Education ( RTE ).
Elaborating further on plan A — Sisodia who is a Education and Finance Minister in Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP ) Cabinet, he explained, the promoted students will be engaged with the help of SMS, IVR and TV medium. “Our teachers will send activity projects to students via possible medium of communication, these teachers will prepare an assessment report of these activities which might be considered in grading in near future,” Sisodia said.
While class X result is yet to be announced, Sisodia said that classes will resume for XI standard as it was earlier since there is no further announcement on lockdown extension.
For class XII,the Delhi Government is starting online classes form first week of April and for this Delhi Government has designed an online platform where wards/parents can register.
Most importantly, the Delhi Government is providing free data packages for online learning.
“Students and parents will register themselves to obtain classes, initially we will start with two subjects, details will shared soon,” Education Minister announced.
He further said that the Delhi Government will soon provide this online learning/ classes facility to Class X students.
