The Jharia Rehabilitation and Development Authority (JRDA) is all set to prepare a new master plan to rehabilitate around 1.05 lakhs families that face threat from the underground mines fire.
Commissioner North Chotanagpur division -cum- Chairman of the JRDA Kamal John Lakra told media persons that the master plan would be ready within two two months. This would focus on rehabilitation of 104995 families that includes both legal land title holders and those who have been identified as encroachers. The divisional commissioner earlier in the day presided over the 30th managing committee meeting of JRDA held at the collectorate building.
He said the existing master plan was prepared with a view to Rehabilitate 54154 families but the number has reached the aforementioned figure that a new plan is required. He said over 8000 BCCL quarters would be available to JRDA soon and identified families would be rehabilitated there soon.
The JRDA would soon work for providing more civil facilities to the Belgharia rehabilitation colony including water and others.
The managing committee also discussed the issues including extension of the contract of RITES.
Senior officers including Dhanbad DC -cum- managing director of JRDA Uma Shankar Singh and other officers from BCCL and JRDA were present during the meeting.
