Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur and his wife tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. Both are in home isolation.
“After coming in contact with a COVID-19 positive person, I along with my staff underwent COVID testing. I have been tested positive and quarantined myself at home,” the Minister said in a tweet. Two days ago, the Education Minister had attended the Cabinet meeting in Shimla.
Earlier, The Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and some of his cabinet colleagues were also diagnosed COVID positive. Himachal Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar and several other MLAs were also tested positive for the virus. As per the state’s evening health bulletin (5 pm), there were a total of 21187 positive cases reported in the state. There were 2530 active cases and 18328 have cured from the virus.
300 people have succumbed to the virus till now. Till the evening, 37 fresh positive cases were reported in the state, the bulletin stated. So far, 383028 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state.
