Haryana Excise Department has prepared a new master plan to stop the sale of illicit liquor in the state.
Soon, liquor vends will provide electronic receipt on sale of liquor so that the state does not suffer any loss on revenue. Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala has given orders to concerned officers to ensure the system for electronic receipt is up and running by January 15 at all liquor vends.
He said that this will ensure that illicit sale of liquor does not take place and proper checks can be maintained.
The Deputy CM said that orders have also been given to officers to conduct raids anywhere in the state to stop the sale of liquor without permission. He also gave orders to impose penalty in cases where there is delay in recovery and to attach the property to recover the dues.
He has directed the officials of Excise department to reach the set targets and work hard in the next two trimesters.
Dushyant also directed to ensure that sale of liquor at hotels, restaurants and banquets is not done without necessary permission so that the state does not suffer loss of revenue. Alongwith this, he gave directions to keep check on single day permits and take appropriate action in cases where licence is not taken.
By stopping the sale of illicit liquor in the state, Haryana will gain considerably on the revenue front, he added.
He also appreciated the officers on stopping the illicit sale of liquor even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Deputy CM said that in the first six months of current fiscal year, the Excise Department has collected Rs 660 crore more revenue. Not only will the Department reach the 2020-21 target of 7500 crore but will collect nearly 20 percent more revenue than that.
In the first six months of the current fiscal year, Rs 4500 crore has already been collected. The government has made such provisions in the excise policy that will stop tax evasion and sale of illicit liquor, he added.
