nThe family of Chhattisgarh resident Jhamsingh Dhurve who was allegedly killed by the Madhya Pradesh Police in Kabirdham district was sanctioned Rs 4 lakh in financial assistance from the Chief Minister discretionary fund on Friday.
The assistance was announced at the initiative of Forest Minister Mohammed Akbar who is an MLA from Kawardha assembly in Kabirdham district, an official press release said.
Earlier, the district administration had provided Rs 1 lakh to the distraught family, the statement said.
Akbar said that Jhamsingh Dhurve of Balsamund village in the Jhalmala police station area in Kabirdham was shot dead in firing by the Madhya Pradesh Police on the inter-state border on September 6. Another villager, Nem Singh Dhurve, escaped unhurt.
Preliminary findings of Jhalmala police pointed that the MP Police allegedly opened unprovoked fire on the two tribals while they were returning after fishing in Madhya Pradesh, Akbar had said earlier.
The Minister said the tribals had no connection with Naxalites.
Akbar has also written to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and raised the issue with Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey.
