Despite concerted efforts from the administration, coronavirus positive cases continue to rise with figures crossing the 11500 mark in East Singhbhum district. In the last 24 hours alone more than 200 fresh cases were reported. The district health department has focussed on rapid antigen tests for COVID across the district but still the impact of the virus is refusing to slow down.
The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients at Tata Main Hospital has improved from 80.57 per cent to 81.12. The senior management of the hospital there is a marginal improvement in the admissions of the COVID-19 patients too. While last week 258 patients were admitted this week the numbers reduced to 243.
During a telephonic media interaction, Dr Rajan Choudhry, COVID advisor of TMH and former general manager, medical services, Tata Steel said that there is a marginal improvement in the number of COVID patients being admitted at the hospital. “ We cannot say that the impact of the virus has reduced but going by the figures of TMH we are hopeful that the impact of coronavirus can be controlled if the number of admissions continue to reduce in coming weeks,” said Choudhry.
The advisor further informed that TMH so far has admitted 3135 COVID patients out of which 26159 have recovered. Moreover, 43 patients hailing from 80 years and above have been discharged so far. In one week alone 14 patients of 80 years and above were released.
He went on to inform that the recovery of COVID-19 patients at one of the largest hospitals in Jharkhand, Tata Main Hospital ( TMH) has improved. Dr Rajan Choudhry said that the hospital is providing the best services to the people of Jharkhand. However, they too can cater to patients to a certain amount.
The hospital has so far conducted 42851 tests out of which 30 per cent turned out to be positive in RT-PCR tests while in Antigen Tests the positivity rate was 6.9 per cent.
Meanwhile, a team constituted by the Health Department of Government of Jharkhand visited Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur (TMH) on September 18, 2020 to review the COVID-19 facilities and the medical protocols being followed by TMH during the pandemic.
The team is headed by Baghmare Prasad Krishna, Joint Secretary, Department of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, GoJ along with Dr Ajit Kumar Prasad, Additional. Director, Health Directorate, Ranchi, Dr Devesh Kumar, Assistant Professor (PSSM), RIMS, Ranchi, Dr Balram Jha, Professor (Medicine), MGM Hospital and Dr Amarendra Kumar, SRTL-WHO.
Dr Chaudhry talked about the ramp-up of testing facilities and setting up of enhanced critical healthcare services like ventilators (invasive and non-invasive), High Frequency Nasal Oxygen (HFNO) and oxygen beds to battle the threat posed by the pandemic.
