CM inspects newly built Yog Nagari Rishikesh railway station

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat visited the newly constructed Yog Nagari Rishikesh railway station built as part of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line project.

The CM planted a sapling at the site on the occasion and also discussed infrastructural facilities of the railway station with officials of the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) during his visit.

The CM said that this railway station had been built in a modern form and special focus had been laid on environmental conduciveness in its construction. Separate facilities have also been provided considering the requirements of senior citizens and the differently abled.

He said that completion of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project will not only provide transport facility to people of the state but also ensure a convenient experience for the devotees travelling to Badrinath and Kedarnath. Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had granted many gifts to Uttarakhand in the sphere of infrastructural development, Rawat said that all types of facilities for transport will be available in the state after the construction of all weather road, air connectivity and rail lines.

He further said that after construction of the Doiwala- Uttarkashi rail line, all the Char Dham will be connected by rail. After inspecting the railway station, the CM also made a surprise visit to the 7.5 MLD multipurpose sewage treatment plant at Chandreshwarnagar in Rishikesh.

 Built by the Peyjal Nigam under Namami Gange mission at a cost of Rs 12 crore, this STP filters effluents after taping of Chandreshwar, Dhalwala and Shamshan Ghat nalas. The treated water is released in the Ganga river after meeting the required standards. This 21 metre high STP is the first in India to be made in a multi-storeyed building.

Rawat said that STPs are being constructed under Namami Gange at various places in the state to ensure the cleanliness of the Ganga. The treated water from STPs will also be used for irrigation purposes, he added.Vidhan Sabha speaker and Rishikesh MLA Premchand Agarwal, Rishikesh mayor Anita Mamgai and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
