The much awaited results for Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) were finally declared on Friday afternoon by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE). In St Francis, the highest in Science was scored by Akansha Raj who got 85 per cent while Shreya Singh was the topper in Commerce with 85.5 from the same school.
Due to the imposed lockdown, the board was unable to conduct an exam for all the subjects.
For Ranchi, in class X four subjects namely geography, Hindi, computer and biology while for class XII biology and geography were left in Science and Arts streams respectively.
“The council prepared a methodology for evaluating the papers. If a student has appeared for four subjects then the best of three has been taken and according to the percent the remaining papers have been marked. 70 per cent marks were taken from the finals while 30 per cent from the internals. This 100 per cent was then converted into 80 per cent and the remaining 20 were again taken from the internal marks sent by the schools,” said St Xavier’s School Principal Father Sanjay Kerketta.
Talking about the school’s results, Kerketta further praised the students for flying with high colours and said, “The boys have performed really well. Though there was an eagerness to attempt all the subjects but given the situation, the method developed by the Council is quite satisfying. In times to come, if the students are not satisfied with their marks, the Council has left it open for them to reappear for a particular paper.”
