Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday visited a fuel distribution outlet here to see if "social distancing" norms as emphasised by the government to combat the COVID-19 pandemic was being followed by people.
During the visit, the chief minister told the people to maintain social distancing norms and asked the security personnel deployed to check the identity cards of those who are coming to the fuel station.
"The first priority is to save lives as this coronavirus is an unseen enemy," he told reporters, adding that "protocols are to be strictly followed as we have to be careful for there has been rise of new COVID-19 related cases in other parts of the country."
Fuel is being distributed at selected outlets for few hours for those who are exempted from the purview of the ongoing lockdown.
