NAFED contributes Rs 5 crore to PM-Cares fund

National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) contributed Rs 5 crore to PM-Cares Fund to fight the situation arising out of Covid-19. Sanjiv Kumar Chadha, Managing Director, handed over the cheque to Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj. The Government of India has acknowledged the generous contribution for the welfare of the Nation in this difficult time. NAFED has ensured that with its deft handling, the country has sufficient stock of Pulses. At present, it has over 35 LMT of assorted pulses. The Government of India has directed for Distribution of 1 kg of pulses to poor household of the country under PM Garib Kalyan Yojna.

Necessary preparations have been carried out and very soon the deliveries will be made to the States for its distribution. Unmindful of the ground challenges, the procurement of Pulses and Oilseeds are being made, though affected by Covid-19, but State Governments/ agencies are being requested to streamline it so that farmers stock continue to be procured at MSP.
