Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will unveil a rosewood statue of Lord Rama in Ayodhya on Friday.
The 7-foot statue made from a single rosewood block has been brought from Karnataka.
The statue of Kodamb Ram will be installed at the Ram museum of Shodh Sansthan in Ayodhya.
It has been purchased from the Karnataka Emporium at a price of Rs 35 lakh.
“The statue is made of a single rosewood block and will be unveiled by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday (June 7) when it will be put up at the Shodh Sansthan,” a government official said.
Director of Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan YP Singh said this statue was special because it depicts Kodamb Ram which is rare.
“Though the museum has over 2,500 artefacts related to Lord Ram and his life but this statue is unique,” he said.
As per Hindu scriptures, the life of Lord Ram is divided into five stages — Baal Ram, Raja Ram, Dulha Ram, Vanvasi Ram and Kodamb Ram.
In south India, Lord Ram is worshipped as Kodamb Ram. It depicts the stage of Lord Ram’s life when Sita was abducted. The statues from this phase of Lord Ram’s life show the Lord alone, without Sita and Laxman.
The official said that the statue of Kodamb Ram was different from the Yogi Adityanath government’s proposal to install a 100-metre tall statue of Lord Ram on the banks of Saryu river in Ayodhya.
