The Utkalika continues to earn net profits during the last three years, informed Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Padmini Dian in the State Assembly on Saturday.
In response to a question of BJD MLA Byomkesh Ray, the Minister informed that the Utkalika earned Rs49,42,000 in 2016-17, Rs1,01,96,000 in 2017-18 and Rs1,03,82, 000 (provisional) in 2018-19.
The Government has taken many measures to enhance profit of the Government agency selling handicrafts and handloom products. The sale target has been enhanced for the 11 branches in the State and six outside the State.
All branches have been renovated with Government funds. Plans are afoot to open new branches. Each branch has been computorised and bill being provided online.
More exhibitions are being conducted every year. Sale of handicrafts has been enhanced to international market through the e-marketing.
