Two juveniles were apprehended by the Delhi Police for their alleged involvement in multiple cases of robbery and snatching in Connaught Place, police said on Wednesday.
According to police, on Monday around 8.30 pm, information was received that the two juveniles would be arriving at Connaught Place area on a scooty to commit snatchings.
A trap was laid and the duo was apprehended, police said, adding a stolen scooty and five mobile phones were recovered from them. A case under relevant sections has been registered at Connaught Place police station, police said.
“On questioning, the juveniles accepted their involvement in the incidents. They also revealed that they had stolen the scooty from Paharganj just for the purpose of committing snatchings,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Kumar Gyanesh said.
“They revealed that they frequented Connaught Place, Mandir Marg, Paharganj and North Avenue to commit robbing and snatchings with a scooty. They used to steal vehicle especially scooty this purpose. They also disclosed that they never visit petrol pumps to refill fuel and stole petrol from parked bikes at night,” Gyanesh stated.
Six cases of snatching and robberies were worked out with their apprehension, he said, adding that they are further investigating the matter.
