In order to divert some traffic at the time of traffic congestion on Char Dham Yatra Route and to identify some new parking space in Dehradun district, Superintendents of Police Traffic and Rural had conducted a joint inspection earlier this month. As per the proposal submitted by Dehradun SP Traffic Prakash Chandra Arya to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nivedita Kukreti, the route from Dehradun to Mussoorie via Kimadi for light vehicle, a diversion point from Jaypee Residency bend and a new parking space that is under construction have been identified.
Providing details about the proposal, Dehradun SSP Nivedita Kukreti said, “Yes, the route was earlier inspected by us. We will be using it only at the time of traffic congestion as the route near Kimadi is not very safe and it cannot used by big vehicles. Traffic will be diverted to this route only during the daytime.”
She further added, “Kimadi route can be used as two-way route but only by smaller vehicles. Smaller vehicles as in SUVs as big as Scorpio can pass easily but passage for buses will be problematic because the road is damaged at some places. Earlier also we have used Jaypee Residency bend as diversion point.”
When asked about parking space she said, “A new parking space is under construction which can hold about 150 vehicles. It is situated in main Mussoorie”
SP Traffic Prakash Chandra Arya said, “On May 6 we went to Raiwala-Rishikesh and on May 7 we went to Mussoorie via Yamuna Bridge and Vikasnagar. The motive was to identify parking space and routes where traffic could be diverted at the time of traffic congestion during Char Dham Yatra. Kimadi route has been identified especially for those who are planning to go to Kempty as this route is better. Force will be deployed there, and the passage from that route will only be allowed during day time.”
