Ice crystals covered the plain areas of Sarguja and Jashpur districts situated in Northern part of Chhattisgarh following drop in temperature. The temperature reported ranging minimum of 3.8oC at Ambikapur on Saturday.
Generally the area during winter months report temperature fluctuation between 1oC to 3oC.
Similar situation was seen in Mainpat, Jokapat in Sarguja, Sannapat and Pandrapaat in Jashpur district. The Meteorological department also predicts similar temperature to continue for next 48 hours.
According to Meteorological department Raipur, cold day is very likely at isolated pockets over northern parts of Chhattisgarh. In capital city, Raipur the next 48 hours will have a clear sky, the maximum and minimum temperature to be around 23oC and 10oC respectively. The general forecast says there will be no significant changes in minimum temperature over Chhattisgarh during next two days.
The alert has been sounded in Koriya, Balrampur, Sarguja, Surajpur, Jashpur, Bilaspur, Kawardha, Mungeli, Korba, Raigarh, Bemetara, Janjgir, Rajnandgaon, Baloda Bazar, and few pockets of Mahasamund district for cold wave/severe cold wave.
In next 48 hours, possibility of cold wave and cold day also looms over Koriya, Balrampur, Sarguja, Surajpur, Jashpur, Bilaspur, Kawardha, Mungeli, Korba, Raigarh, Bemetara, Janjgir, Rajnandgaon, Baloda Bazar, and few pockets of Mahasamund district.
The maximum and minimum temperature fluctuations were reported from -1 to -5oC while the Ambikapur reported maximum of 17.8oC and minimum of 3.8oC while maximum drop fluctuations was of -6 degree recorded in Pendra Road reporting 4.1oC of minimum temperature while maximum was 22.1oC.
