Oppn leaders also rattled by surgical strike-II: Rajnath

Monday, 11 March 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

In a veiled attack on opposition parties, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said it was a mystery why some opposition leaders were rattled by the surgical strike-II carried out by the Indian Air Force in Pakistan and had started questioning the government.

“Pakistan was caught completely unawares by the surgical strike. It received the lesson it deserved. Pakistan is disturbed, which is understandable because of global condemnation it has got. But it is surprising that the IAF strike has rattled many opposition leaders and they are questioning the government,” Rajnath Singh said during his interaction with farmers at the ‘Gaon Mein Mann ki Baat programme in Bhagwant Nagar area of Unnao on Sunday.

Some Congress and Trinamool Congress leaders have asked the Union government to furnish proof of the strike at Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist training camp in Pakistan’s Balakot.

He said the non-military strike by Indian Air Force was aimed against terrorists. “We achieved the desired results that gladdened the hearts of Indians. But many political leaders are upset and are questioning the Indian government, and this is very confusing,” he said.

Singh said India was now led by a towering personality like Narendra Modi and the world recognised his efforts for bring the poor and the farmers into the mainstream.

“The work done by Modi government in social sector is unparalleled. The poor who did not have a house now have one which also has electricity,” he said.

Singh asked the farmers to tell him their problems so that they could be incorporated in the election manifesto of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“I am the chairman of the committee which will draft the election manifesto. I have come to you to know what exactly you want,” he said.

Singh, who represents Lucknow in the Lok Sabha, said it was the first time in the history of Indian politics that a political party was preparing its election agenda after discussion with people.

“Your views are important because these will form part of our Sankalp Patra,” he added.
