India to emerge 2nd largest aluminium producer

The Nalco conducted a customers’ meet in Ahmadebad on Thursday which was attended by a large number of aluminium and alumina customers of Nalco in Gujarat and nearby States.

Nalco CMD Dr TK Chand gave a glimpse of the world aluminium market and predicted that during the current fiscal 2019-20, the aluminium and alumina market would remain steady without any abnormalities and would be driven by market fundamentals.

He also estimated that such market shall be beneficial for the aluminium industry as there would be incremental growth without stiff rise or fall in prices, which are injurious for the growth of the industry.

Allaying the concern of the customers on fall of LME prices by 10 per cent and price of alumina by nearly 20 per cent, he informed that the aluminium industry in India should aim at making aluminium affordable as affordability would bring scalability.

He also said India would become the second largest producer of aluminium in the world in the next two to three years. The customers of Nalco while reiterating their committed partnership with the organisation requested the Nalco to open a stockyard in Ahmadebad.

On the occasion, a film on Nalco was shown to the customers and a presentation was made by the Regional Manager (West).
