UDRP holds awareness programme in school

Dehradun: Officials of Uttarakhand Disaster Recovery Project held a programme on disaster management and the environment at Fylfot Public school. The sessions were interactive as the students practically answered some of the questions specifically on earthquake safety measures such as duck-cover-hold. A quiz competition was conducted on disaster and environment. The students’ awareness on the subject was enhanced through movies on earthquake and landslide. A presentation on environmental education was also part of the programme. More awareness programmes will be held under UDRP on the subject of disaster which is also linked with environment protection.

HUDCO registers 17 % rise in Net Profit

Dehradun: The chairman and managing director of Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO),  M Ravi Kanth, sharing the highlights of HUDCO’s robust performance in 2018-19, informed that the company has witnessed a 17 per cent rise in net profit that has touched an all-time high of Rs 1180 crore in 2018-19 from Rs 1010 crore in 2017-18. HUDCO has seen a 10 per cent growth in its net worth that has reached Rs 10,956 crore in 2018-19 from Rs 9,943 crore in 2017-18. Further, the corporation has disbursed Rs 31,009 crore, which is a growth of 87 per cent in 2018-19 from Rs 16,565 crore in 2017-18. Its balance sheet size has seen a quantum jump of 49 per cent to Rs 72,829 crore in 2018-19 from Rs 48,915 crore in 2017-18. During the year 2018-19, a total of 20.68 lakh dwelling units were sanctioned, including EWS and LIG category, as against 8.88 lakh units in 2017-18, added Kanth.

TIS receives Best Residential School award

Dehradun: Tula’s International School received the ‘Best Residential School of the Year’ award from International School Award India 2019. The ISA India award was presented to the TIS principal Shaline Sharma by the special adviser to the Prime Minister of Lesotho and Guinea Bissau, Deepak Vohra. Among more than ten thousand nominations, Tula’s won the award in several categories. The ceremony took place at the ISA India 2019 Summit held at Chitkara University in Rajpura, Punjab. More than 500 schools and 1000 delegates, speakers, thinkers and entrepreneurs from India and abroad were present at the summit and the award function. Sharma said, “With this achievement, we are now the best residential school in India and can claim to be providing India’s best residential school facilities in Dehradun city.”

Film shooting begins at Graphic Era University

Dehradun: Shooting of the movie "Diary of Marry Gomez" is being conducted at the Graphic Era Deemed University campus. The shooting of the suspense and thriller part of this romantic film directed by Saral Ranawat began here on Monday. President of Graphic Era group, Kamal Ghanshala gave the opening shot of the film.The film produced under the banner of The Talking Tree Production features Harsh Nagar, Vivek Jariwala, Aarif Zakaria, Rahul Singh, Vaishali Takker and Vishakha Raghav among others.
