Power distribution company BYPL that supplies power in the Walled City that came in the line of the fire in the wake of the tragedy, tried to wriggle out of the situation by claiming that the fire in a factory in Anaj Mandi was triggered by some “internal system” of the building.
A senior discom official said that a team of BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) rushed to the spot after getting information of fire and immediately discontinued the electricity supply.
“It appears the fire started from the second and third floor due to internal system of the building. The electricity meters of the building were placed on the ground floor and were found to be intact,” he said.
Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, who visited the spot along with Union Housing and Urban Affairs minister Hardeep Puri, said electricity wires were dangling in the area but no action was taken by Government agencies despite repeated complaints.
Highlighting the issue of electricity wires, dangling all over the area, Delhi Congress president Subhash Chopra demanded that all open electric wires should be laid underground so that such tragedies do not occur in future.
