In a bizarre incident in Jaunpur district, a challenge to hog 50 eggs at one go cost a man dearly as he lost his life in the process.

The police registered a case in this regard and sent the body for autopsy. Investigations are underway.

As per reports, Subhash Yadav (42) of Argupur Kala in Dharaura, accompanied his friend to Bibiganj market area in Jaunpur to eat eggs. However, an argument broke out between the two and they decided that whoever would eat 50 eggs at one go and gulp a bottle of liquor would win a bet of Rs 2,000.

A travel agent by profession, Subhash accepted the challenge and began eating eggs. Soon an audience collected and they clapped to egg on Subhash to eat more eggs. After gobbling up 41 eggs, as Subhash lay his hands on the 42nd, he collapsed and fell unconscious.

The people rushed him to district hospital from where he was referred to Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow. He died a few hours after reaching SGPGI, Lucknow on Sunday night.

While doctors said that Subhash died due to over-eating, his family members refused to comment on the incident.

Subhash had four daughters from his first wife but in the hope of having a son, he married a second time just nine months back. His second wife is now pregnant. She was shocked by the news of her husband’s death.
