EDMC inks MoU with NTPC to curb solid waste

Friday, 08 February 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

As Delhi runs out of dumping ground, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) on Thursday to tackle the challenge of solid waste and its scientific disposal.

EDMC Commissioner Dr Dilraj Kaur said solid waste management has become biggest challenge for the corporation. With the initiative, electricity, bio-methane gas and other useful products would be generated besides reducing load of garbage on the landfill site, Kaur said.

A senior EDMC official said that an integrated waste management plan would be introduce to solve the solid waste crisis.  Chief Engineer Pradeep Khandelwal, NTPC General Manager Praveen Saxena and other senior officers of EDMC and NTPC were also present on the occasion.
