A man in inebriated condition allegedly hacked her mother to death at Gopinathpada village under the Choudwar police station on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Sabi Dehury.
According to reports, a drunken Prakash Dehury returned home and asked his mother for money to buy more liquor. A heated argument ensued between the two when the mother refused to give money. In a fit of anger, Prakash hacked his mother with an axe and fled from home.
The injured woman was rushed by locals to a hospital in Athagarh, where she died while undergoing treatment. Police later reached the crime spot and began an investigation into the incident. “A case has been registered in this connection and. Search operation is on to nab the accused,” said police.
