Divyangs flock Malviya Nagar camp

In order to provide assistance to the physically disabled people residing in the national Capital, Delhi Government's Social Welfare Department on Thursday inaugurated a first 'Disability Camp' at Malviya Nagar for issuing disability cards and other services.

The camp was launched by the Dellhi Minister of Social Welfare Rajendra Pal Gautam and with Malviya Nagar Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Somnath Bharti.

The disability camp is currently being organised for two days from Thursday to Sunday at Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital, Malviya Nagar for the people of south district to issue disability certificates along with other facilities provided by different Government Departments.

"The camp witnessed a large number of people and their issues were addressed in a timely manner. Be it disability certificate or providing artificial limbs, all issues will be addressed under one roof," said the Social Welfare Minister.

On the first day, a total number of 229 people were registered in the camp, out of which nine disability certificates, six Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus passes have been issued while Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) identity card registrations were 55 in number. For employment and training purposes, 17 persons registered for vocational rehabilitation center. 15 railway passes have been issued. 72 people registered for artificial limbs.

The camps will also be expanded to other districts. The participating departments were, Delhi Transport Corpoartion, Northern Railways, Institute of Physically Handicapped, Department of inclusive education, Vocational Rehabilitation Center for Handicapped, Viklang Sahara Samiti to provide respective services related to their departments.
