Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy fondly remembered his good old days at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi, where he did his Masters Degree, and sought to highlight the democratic ethos and value of the university.
Speaking in the First Annual Convention of JNUites, Odisha Chapter here, Tripathy said that whoever went there became an activist for a cause.
He praised the effort of alumni's Odisha Chapter and anticipated that it would be a big think tank in future.
"Former students of the Jawaharlal University hailing from, or residing in Odisha should launch collective effort to help the state build a robust environment for higher education and foster more inclusive developing of its people," said Minister Ashok Chandra Panda at the convention.
The valedictory programme was chaired by Basant Kumar Mallick in which Nandinee Sarangi coordinated and Manas Ranjan Nanda, secretary of the Chapter, proposeda vote of thanks.
Director, Vigilance Debasis Panigrahi, Secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Manoranjan Panigrahy, Trailokya Pandey of California University and Ananda Kumar also spoke.
A souvenir, brought out on the occasion, was released by the guests. The inaugural session was attended by Amarendra Mishra, VC, Khallikote University, Srikant Mohapatra, VC, State Open University and Ajaya Pattanaik of JNU.
The pPlenary session was chaired by senior journalist Rajesh Mohapatra in which it was resolved that the JNUites can contribute to an overall development of Odisha.
