Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that construction of Jewar airport was an example of major projects being implemented through mutual consent as farmers themselves handed over certificates of possession to the government, allowing construction of world class airport on their land.
“The state government is fulfilling the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who wanted to make air travel affordable for the poor through inter-connectivity. The Congress, the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party never considered about the progress of common man. The real development is contentment of the masses,” the Chief Minister said.
“My government has been working relentlessly for development without any discrimination and Jewar international airport is part of this effort. The project will bring in major development in the area,” he said.
On Wednesday, the farmers handed over certificates of possession of about 80.13 per cent of the land acquired for construction of Jewar airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar district to the Chief Minister at a function held at his residence. The farmers’ delegation was led by Bharatiya Janata Party MLA at Jewar, Thakur Dhirendra Singh.
The government on its part deposited Rs 2491.25 crore directly into the accounts of the farmers.
“There is a clause in the agreement that the state government should acquire at least 80 per cent of the land before October 30 and we not only fulfilled that clause but also acquired more than the prescribed land,” Yogi Adityanath said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that this was an excellent example of how any major development project could be materialised through mutual consent and better dialogue. He said the act of the farmers of Jewar and the district administration of Gautam Buddha Nagar should be appreciated in this case.
The Chief Minister said, “Around two-and-half years ago, when the BJP government was formed in UP, the state had only two airports but today seven airports are operational and the work has begun to operate 17 more airstrips.”
In addition, a new airport is being built in Kushinagar and the civil work is in process at Agra and Kanpur terminal. Besides, a new airport is going to be built in Ayodhya which will enable pilgrims from across the country to visit Ayodhya, he added.
“We are providing better air connectivity in order to develop Uttar Pradesh. Development of UP means development of people as they will become more prosperous because they will have more employment opportunities,” the Chief Minister said.
Civil Aviation Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi, Jewar MLA Thakur Dhirendra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi, Noida District Magistrate Brijesh Narayan Singh and many other senior officials were present on the occasion.
