CCL, BCCL to contribute Rs 1.75 cr to martyr family

Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) – the subsidiaries of Coal India have jointly decided to contribute about Rs 1.75 crore to the family of martyred Vijay Soreng of Jharkhand. The decision was taken under the leadership of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Gopal Singh. Singh has been given additional charge of BCCL as a CMD.

The CCL, JCSC members condemned the incident and paid homage to the martyrs. It was unanimously decided that an amount of Rs 200 only will be contributed by every employee i.e. both executives and non-executives of CCL. The said amount will be deducted from their salary of in February 2019 itself to be paid in March 2019.

Those employees who are willing to contribute more than Rs 200 or who are not willing to contribute any amount may submit their written option in the form of application duly signed by individual employee to their concerned head.

A similar decision was also taken in BCCL, CCL as well as BCCL -- JCSC where officials have been told to contribute for this noble cause.

The decision was taken up during a special meeting of Joint Consultative Steering Committee (JCSC) at CCL Darbhanga House, Ranchi.

A similar meeting was also held at BCCL through video conferencing from Coal Room, Darbhanga House -- CCL headquarters.

According to the communiqué released suggested that the manpower of CCL is 39,581 as on January 1, 2019 and the manpower of BCCLis 46,344 as on January 1, 2019.

Notably, CRPF Jawans including Vijay Soreng were killed in terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama.

The body of martyred Vijay Soreng was flown to Ranchi before being sent home in Gumla district of Jharkhand on February 16. 

Singh on behalf of CCL extended family placed a wreath on a platform placed before the coffin at Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi.

CMD Singh referring to Paramveer Chakra awardee -- Albert Ekka said that Jharkhand is the land of supreme sacrifice and it is our moral responsibility to ensure future life of Vijay Soreng’s family.

He further said that CCL team will visit home of Soreng in Gumla and the company is committed to extend necessary support.
