Kailash Satyarthi children’s foundation has initiated a ‘Rape free India’ programme on May 2. As a part of this programme, the Lok Sabha candidates have to file an affidavit towards the cause of improving the condition of women and children in the country.
The candidates are asked to assure that if they succeed in the election and make it to the parliament; they will take a step towards stopping sexual violence meted on children and women of the country. Dr.Vishnu Rajgadiya, Jharkhand coordinator of the programme gave more information about the progarmme and said that to fulfill the aim to make India a ‘rape free India’, a national plan will be implemented till the year 2022 where 10 per cent fund of the union budget will be utilized for the purpose of protection of the children and women. Various Lok Sabha candidates have started to put their signature on the affidavit. Among the candidates that have put their signature, Sudarshan Bhagat, BJP candidate of Lohardaga parliamentary constituency and Sukhdev Bhagat, Congress candidate and former chairperson of Congress Pradesh is also included. Both the candidates have also released a video message asserting their approval of the programme and taking steps to make India a ‘rape free India’.
